    Big & Little Buddies!

    Hello super swimfans,

One of the great traditions at Madeira Swim Team is the tradition of big and little buddies. All big swimmers (11& up) are assigned 1-3 little buddies for the swim season.

What is the role of a big buddy?

A big buddy will find their little buddy at practice or meets and introduce themselves to their little buddy.

A big buddy will help their little buddy mark their arms at dual meets (not mini meets) with their events, heat, and lane assignments. If their little is 8&under they will help them write their last name on their back right shoulder.

A big buddy will help make sure their little buddy is in the right heats and lanes for their events, remind them what they are swimming, and all the rules they need to obey for their strokes (stay on your back, two hand touch, etc).

A big buddy will cheer for their little buddy during their race and give them a "Great job!" and high five at the end of their race.

Some big buddies bring a little treat for their little buddy at swim meets. Little buddies like candy, stickers, and sharpies so they can write "eat my bubbles" on their backs. Treats are nice and fun, but not necessary.

What is the role of a little buddy?

Appreciate your big buddy!  You can do this by cheering for your big, saying hi to your big at practice and meets, and saying thank you! Some little buddies also give their big buddies little treats but again, this is not required. Big buddies like candy too!

If you find your super swimmer was omitted from the attached list, please know this was not intentional. Send me a quick email and we will find your swimmer an awesome big or little buddy!

    Thanks for all your support!
